The Angela Carter Adaptations

Angela Carter (1940-1992) was a British writer who is known for writing short stories, most of which had a fantasy genre with a very distinct feminist and gothic feel.  The collection of short stories "The Bloody Chamber", published in 1979, became wildly popular, sparking numerous adaptations, including radio plays, theatre plays, and a film.  In the collection of short stories, three are based on werewolves, and all three are also loosely based on the story of Little Red Riding Hood, but at the same time are dramatically different.

Our focus is on the short story "The Company of Wolves", which is a collection of even shorter short stories in itself.  Angela Carter herself is credited as a one of the adapters for writing the screenplay transitioning this story from paper to the big screen.  In 1984, the film, also titled "The Company of Wolves", was released in theatres worldwide, following a 1980 BBC radio play adaptation (back when people used to listen to radio plays).
